DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASOUND EVALUATIONS
A. HEART SCAN - ECHOCARDIOGRAM COLOR FLOW SCAN
A two dimensional color ultrasound image of the heart, its size, valves and chambers, and is considered the best and most accurate non-invasive study to obtain potential or existing heart problems caused by coronary artery disease or an undetected heart attack.
HEART M-MODE - (MEASURES THE HEART WALL MOTION)
Determines the size of your heart, thickness and con-tractability of the heart muscle, and any enlargements of the heart chambers.
B. STROKE -CAROTID COLOR-FLOW ULTRASOUND
80-85% of strokes result from clots and plaque that break off, traveling to smaller arteries in the brain. Ultrasound of the Carotid arteries is used to detect the blockages in the arteries leading to the brain which result in a stroke. A stroke is a “brain attack”, a condition in which a part of the brain is starved of blood. The amount of plaque in these arteries is a good prognostic indicator of stroke.
STROKE - CAROTID DOPPLER BLOOD FLOW ANALYSIS
An analysis of the carotid artery blood flow utilizing sound waves to check if there is reduced circulation to the brain.Additionally, people with PAD are likely to have blocked arteries in other areas of the body, making them 4-6 times more likely to die from Stroke or Heart Attack.
C. ARTERIAL VASCULAR SCAN - ARM/LEG SCAN
PAD (Arteries) Peripheral Arterial Scan - Sound waves "listen" to the blood flow in the arteries which carries blood from the heart to the hands, legs, and feet. There is a high correlation associated with this disease and coronary heart disease
D. VENOUS - DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS EVALUATION
(Veins) Deep Vein Thrombosis - Utilizing a light sensor, this test checks for blood clots in the legs for phlebitis. Left undetected, these clots may dislodge, travel from the legs to the lungs and cause a stroke or heart attack.
E. OXYGEN SATURATION INDEX
This non-invasive test measures the percentage of oxygen in the blood system important to the proper functioning of the heart and lungs.
F. ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSM TEST
This ultrasound test is used to visualize the presence of an aneurysm, i.e., an abnormal swelling or dilation of a blood vessel. The danger lies in the risk of the aneurysm bursting or rupturing.
G. GALLBLADDER/BILIARY EVALUATION
Ultrasound is utilized to measure the size, shape of the gallbladder and to visualize for gallstones in the gallbladder and the biliary track.
H. KIDNEY SCAN
Ultrasound evaluation of the kidneys to early detect kidney stones, water around the kidneys(nephritis), tumors, cysts and overall size and shape.
Ultrasound is utilized in the evaluation of the pancreas for size and the possibility of tumors or cysts.
Ultrasound is utilized to evaluate the liver for enlargement, tumors and cysts and overall structure.
The spleen is visualized by ultrasound for tumors, cysts and size of the spleen.
L. THYROID SCAN
The thyroid is visualized and measured for size, texture and to detect cystic & solid masses.
M. PELVIC SCAN
PROSTATE SCAN (For Men)
The main function of the prostate is to release a substance that makes semen into a liquid. This test can detect enlargements that may indicate prostate cancer.
OVARIAN & UTERUS SCAN (For Women)
The ovaries and uterus are the reproductive organs. This test detects masses and cysts that could lead to ovarian cancer and or uterine cancer.
